About Me

My photo
I am a 30-something mother to 6 children; his, mine and ours. My calling in this world is to document everything. Stories and joys and people and events and tragedies that make up life. And I want to be there to share it. I am the fourth of five children. I have been a mother since I was 18. I have a degree in English Journalism. I am working on two novels and trying to publish a children's book and would like to get into the greeting card market on the side. I have a freelance writing business for which I write feature articles for several publications in my hometown, a column in our city magazine, write reviews for recording artists, and offer a wide array of communications consulting and products. The most inspirational people in my life are, not idly, my children who see the world through stained glass windows and my Nana and late grandfather Noonie my wonderfully handsome loving man. I love to write country songs, play board games and watch movies. And I love CAKE!!!

There’s A lot of Weirdies Out There

In the past couple of months I have noticed people acting strangely. I don’t know if it was because of the state of our economy, a full moon or an invasion of the body snatchers, but, frankly, the Weirdies are coming out of the darkness and acting out in broad daylight. Case and point, these two instances solidify for me that Global Warming isn’t what we should fear but the Weirdies who live all around us, close to us, among us.
First, I was driving on the outskirts of our fair city on my way home on a country road where the houses aren’t too close together. Rounding a curve heading into a straightaway, I saw what looked like a father and son out in their side yard together. That didn’t seem at all odd until I came up closer almost passing them when I saw what they were doing; two guys casting reels. No fish or body of water anywhere even remotely close to them and they were fishing! I’m sure that there are plenty of explanations but the fact of the matter was that they were fishing in their yard and I saw them. Maybe they had a hankering for dry land fish.
Second, I was driving with a van full of kids to take them to their lessons late one afternoon and we were running a little behind because as every mother knows, the baby always manages to do her diaper just as you’re walking to the door. Anyway, we were driving down the hill after getting a little push water and as I passed the city dump, which was by that time in the evening already closed, a blue sedan pulled up and this guy jumped out, opened the back door and grabbed two bags of trash. I saw what was going on and thought, Oh that sucks. He didn’t make it. The entrance gate was locked so I assumed he would cut his losses, turn away disappointed and get on with it like the rest of us when we don’t meet a deadline. Instead, what I actually saw was that guy, who seriously must have had a pair, took his trash and flung it over the fence into the driveway of the dumpster area for all to see. Only a weirdy would have the gumption to be so blatantly rude and disrespectful. I felt kind of bad for the weird city-dump-manager-guy who was going to get there at the butt-crack of dawn the next day and have to clean up that guy’s crap.
Seen any Weirdies turning either dark or unusual deeds? Feel free to leave me a comment.
